SGX Singapore Exchange
SGX was formed in 1999 to effect the de-mutualization and merger of both the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES) and Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX).
SGX owns and operates the only integrated securities exchange and derivatives exchange in Singapore and their related clearing houses. The securities exchange was the first fully electronic and floorless exchange in Asia while the derivatives exchange is one of the largest in Asia.
SGX has developed a number of alliances to meet the evolving needs of the global financial community. It was a founding member of the GLOBEX Alliance together with some other leading derivatives exchanges. It also has strategic relationships with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, the Australian Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India.
SGX was the first exchange in Asia Pacific to be listed via a public offer and a private placement on 23 Nov 2000.
